UPDATE 10/18/2023: Kelly Clarkson has revealed why she is not returning as a coach on ‘The Voice’, saying:
“Full disclosure, I put on a smile a lot of those times because I was struggling a lot in my personal life. I’ve learned a lot about what I’m capable of handling, and also what you should not handle. That was me saying ‘bye’ to The Voice and having this big move. I love that family, but I was like, ‘I’m struggling. I can’t smile anymore. I don’t feel like smiling.’”
Amid the recent revelation from Reba that ‘The Voice’ can be a rather cutthroat environment for coaches, fans can take comfort in the fact that Kelly appears to have fond memories of the experience, despite tumult in her personal life.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Reba McEntire is making waves already as she joins the hit singing show The Voice. In a new promo video, McEntire is seen taking lighthearted jabs at co hosts John Legend and Gwen Stefani who have made an entirely new name for themselves while hosting the show. McEntire is joining the show’s 24th season alongside show veterans Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani and John Legend.
According to the promo video, McEntire isn’t sure how to adjust to the new setting. “Am I supposed to like y’all? Be mean to you? is there something that I need to know to let me win?” asked the “Fancy” performer, 68. John Legend responded to McEntire’s question with “You’re supposed to direct all the artists my way.”
It all seems in good fun as McEntire continued to do her promo video, she even quipped about one of the show’s most notorious parts–blind auditions. “The blind auditions were so much harder than I thought they were going to be,” she said. “They block you, and it’s just so devious — but a lot of fun too!”
“Everybody’s just as sweet and kind offstage as they can be. When they come on the stage though, they kinda change their personalities,” said McEntire, before adding to the camera with a laugh: “They’re real mean — especially Gwen!”
How McEntire plans on adjusting to the show fans cannot wait to see, and we anticipate a hard fought battle between McEntire and the rest of her co-hosts.
