The “Daisy Jones and the Six” actress and Rock-n-Roll royal descent Riley Keough got candid with Variety amidst news of her concluding legal battles regarding her inheritance. Earlier in 2023, Keough’s mother, Lisa Marie Presely suffered a medical emergency and passed away. In the wake of her death, her mother Priscilla Presley challenged legal documents describing who would be entitled to the Graceland estate.
Now, Keough takes her interview with Variety to reflect on her experiences growing up at Graceland alongside her late mother Lisa Marie. She describes how some of her favorites memories included hiding from tourists as she and her mother ate together on the second floor of Graceland which has been sealed off to the general public.
“When Elvis’s chefs were alive, they used to still cook dinner for us, which was really special,” she tells me. “It was very Southern: greens and fried catfish and fried chicken and hush puppies. Cornbread and beans. Banana pudding.”
Keough also touched upon her new personal responsibility as the sole owner of the Graceland estate and the Elvis Presley Enterprises which are estimated to be worth somewhere around 500 million dollars.
Since the death of her mother Keough has stayed committed to honoring Lisa Maire’s memory including a tear jerking Mother’s Day tribute as Keough celebrated without her mother for the first time. The post shared to Instagram featured her father, Danny Keough, and a young Lisa Marie holding Keough as an infant.
“Lucky to have had the best and most deeply loving mama I could have asked for 💕” Keough wrote in the caption.
