Sarah Silverman is mourning two losses this week, after losing her father and stepmother days apart.
“All the sisters, and grandkids surrounded him with love and singing and very dark f***ed up jokes this final week. But ultimately, he wanted to be with his love, Janice, who we lost last Monday.”
Her father, who she called “Shleppy”, passed away on May 11th, 2023, as she revealed in an Instagram post:
In the caption, Silverman implores mourners not to send anything for shiva, and to instead donate to the nonprofit, Second Nurture, which seeks to reunite separated siblings who have entered the foster system.
Celebrities like Rosario Dawson and Kristen Bell rushed to send well-wishes to the comedian, with Dawson writing, “Sending you so much love”, and Bell writing, “Donated in his honor ❤️”.
Our hearts are with the Silverman family at this time. May Donald and Janice’s memories be a blessing.
