Savannah Chrisley posted a tribute to her brother Grayson and niece Chloe while her parents are currently serving their sentence in federal prisons.
The Unlocked podcast host took to Instagram on Sunday to post a collage of pictures and videos of her spending time with her younger family members whom she has been appointed as guardian to after her parent’s began their prison sentences.
“It takes A LOT of energy to be negative,” she started her caption. “I choose to laugh. I choose to smile. I choose to love. I choose to learn. I choose to be patient. I choose to be kind. I choose to find my hope in God.”
Various photos and videos show Savannah having fun at amusement parks, go-karting, and eating at restaurants with her 16-year-old brother and 10-year-old niece, whom she called “my whole world”.
“Life can really SUCK sometimes,” she continued, “but these laughs and smiles have shown me that beauty can rise from the ashes. Nothing is forever…. Until we’re all together again… it’s ‘The Three Musketeers.’”
Savannah also recently talked on the Kaitlyn Bristowe’s Off The Vine podcast where she revealed she’s “dating someone” and the complications that comes with when having to raise Grayson and Chloe and dealing with her parents’ absence in their lives.
“Now I see single moms, like, ‘How do you do it?’” she confessed on the podcast. “And to them, it’s just a package deal. ‘You want to go to dinner? These two are coming along with.’”
“This is what you’re getting into. Guess what? There’s two kids, my parents aren’t in the greatest place in the world right now. You know it all, 110 percent transparency,” she added. “If you’re in, you’re in. If you’re out, you’re out.”
Living in the Nashville area, Savannah posted to her Instagram Story to share her grief and fears amid the tragedy that occurred on Monday at the Covenant School in the Green Hills neighborhood in Nashville.
“Thank you so much for all the messages checking on Chloe. She is good, she’s safe,” she said in the video. “I feel such a level of guilt being able to say she’s okay. I am so beyond grateful, but there are parents today who don’t get to bring their child home.”
She said that she immediately rushed to pick up Chloe from her school when she heard the news on Monday morning and gave her a hug that was “the greatest feeling in the world” as her relief rushed over her that her niece was safe.
“This has really affected our community here in Nashville. It’s not far from where I live,” she continued. “It’s just awful. I don’t know how many lives it’s going to take for there to change, and it’s heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers are with all these families, all the kids who have been affected by it.”
With all the “thoughts and prayers” going around, I think many of us can agree that it’s simply not enough anymore. Action must be taken on a larger scale to stop these tragedies. And hopefully it doesn’t take an incident nearby you or your children for you to finally feel the fear firsthand.
