Lauren Miller Rogen is speaking up about a past year full of scares. Rogen revealed she had been undergoing treatment for a brain aneurysm that she found in her head. At the UCLA Department of Neurosurgery Visionary Ball, Miller Rogen revealed a history of dementia in her family which made her decide to undergo an MRI.
“They found, of course, this sort of aneurysm in my head,” Lauren shared. “So of course, this was terrifying information, and made me think of my great-grandmother, whose fate I certainly didn’t want to mimic.”
“Fortunately, it was relatively small, and I did what the doctors recommended that I do, which is have annual MRIs [to] track the size,” she continued. “It remained small, until it didn’t.”
In the spring of 2022 the aneurysm began to grow and she immediately took action. UCLA neurosurgeon Dr. Geoffrey Colby, who had thoroughly addressed all of her questions and reassured her about the upcoming procedure to remove the aneurysm, instilled a sense of comfort.
“I’m truly endlessly grateful to Dr. Colby, his entire team, and the entire staff at UCLA who guided us through this scary experience that I’m truly grateful to have overcome,” she said, jokingly adding at the gala, “I’m truly thankful that I won’t be dying at this dinner table or any others anytime soon.”
