Shannen Doherty and the former cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 had an emotional moment this past weekend as they attended a 90s Con panel. Doherty, 52, was joined alongside her former castmates Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green. Towards the end of the panel Doherty was honored by fans as they gave her a standing ovation. Doherty has been fighting stage 4 breast cancer since it’s return in February 2020.
“Thank you so much,” an emotional Doherty, 52, said to the crowd. “You guys know how much I love crying constantly. And I do, it seems. So, thank you.”
This past June, Doherty shared a video to her instagram where she told fans that the cancer had spread to her brain. Doherty went on to receive radiation therapy and the tumor removed from her head.
Doherty didn’t want the panel to be in poor spirits the entire time as she quickly joked about her recent divorce from her third husband. Despite life’s obstacles, Doherty doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon as she’s preparing for her upcoming podcast titled Let’s Be Clear. According to Doherty, the podcast would be where she would speak on things she never had and will be ‘spilling the tea but nicely.’
Doherty is a testament to what it means to be strong in the face of unwavering adversity. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 she fought hard until it went into remission in 2017. However it’s made a return but it doesn’t appear Doherty is anywhere close to giving up the fight.
“Our life doesn’t end the minute we get that diagnosis,” she told Good Morning America in February 2020. “We still have some living to do.”
