Losing a pet is just as hard as losing a loved one. Pets are Family, and when you lose a pet– an animal that you have loved–who has been with you through the good times and bad times, who did not judge you, the emptiness can be excruciating.
I know, that happened to me when I lost Mr. CK–our cat for 13 years.
When he became very sick, the vet advised us to let him go. It was so hard to do that but I knew it was the best thing for him.
I can still feel him rubbing at my feet while I am working at the computer, and cuddling with me in my favorite chair. Nothing will ever replace Mr. CK. He will forever be in my heart.
Feeling the grief that followed helped me realize how much I loved Mr. CK.
Loving can be a double edged sword–it is so sweet at times, but with loss, there is a longing for the way it was, which can feel bitter.
Have you lost a pet and what are your feelings about that?
