As the holidays approach, missing those who have left us in this world can make the usually cheerful days dark.
Let’s reflect on those who have left us behind this holiday season. Over the summer the world lost some of its brightest and most favorite celebrities including Hair star Treat Williams, ‘Three’s Company’ Suzanne Somers, the Queen of Rock n Roll Tina Turner, and The Three Musketeers’ Raquel Welch.
Treat Williams passed away earlier this year after a motorcycle accident, he was 71. Williams is survived by his two children Gil and Ellie and his wife Pam Van Sant. Following his surprising passing the family released statements addressing the loss.
“Treat was full of love for his family, for his life and for his craft, and was truly at the top of his game in all of it,” the family shared in a statement. “It is all so shocking right now, but please know that Treat was dearly and deeply loved and respected by his family and everyone who knew him.”
Suzanne Somers lost her decades long battle with cancer in October 2023 after her breast cancer spread to her brain. She was 76 and was going to turn 77 the next day. Her family, which had gathered for her birthday, managed to celebrate their late family member despite the circumstances.
“Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly,” PEOPLE reported following the news of her death.
Tina Turner was one of the deaths that rocked the world earlier this spring. The trailblazer suffered from an undisclosed illness that eventually she succumbed to in her Swiss home. Through her career and personal life, Turner served as a beacon for what it meant to pick yourself up off the ground and not let life’s blows knock you down forever.
Raquel Welch’s memory lives on through her two children Damon and Tahnee. Welch passed away at the age of 81 in February of this year after a “brief illness” that claimed her life. Following news of her passing, several of Welch’s co stars from past came out to praise and remember the actress.
Reese Witherspoon, who worked with Welch on the set of Legally Blonde, sent out a tweet following the news “She was elegant, professional and glamorous beyond belief. Simply stunning. May all her angels carry her home.”
