The world mourned the passing of music icon Tina Turner just two months ago. But what about the man who stood by her side for over 20 years, her devoted husband Erwin Bach?
Bach was seen for the first time since his wife’s passing, organizing gifts and flowers left by fans in front of a memorial for Turner. The 67-year-old German music executive was dressed in all black and wore sunglasses as he went about his task. According to Swiss German-language newspaper Blick, Bach was “drawn by grief” and “looked calmly and visibly moved at the gifts from the fans.”
Turner and Bach were together for over two decades, and their love story was one for the ages. The “Proud Mary” singer knew it was “love at first sight” when she initially met Bach, she told longtime friend Oprah Winfrey in a 2013 interview. Bach proposed to the Grammy-winning “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” twice before she agreed to tie the knot. The pair married in July 2013 at their home in Lake Zurich in Kusnacht, and it was the “Private Dancer” crooner’s second marriage.
In her 2020 book, “Happiness Becomes You: A Guide to Changing Your Life for Good,” Turner revealed how she ended up with the music producer. “I listened to my heart. I left my comfort zone and made it a priority to get to know Erwin. That simple first meeting led to a long, beautiful relationship — and my one true marriage.”
Throughout their relationship, Bach was never intimidated by Turner’s fame. “Erwin, who is a force of nature in his own right, has never been the least bit intimidated by my career, my talents, or my fame,” Turner wrote in her book. “He shows me that true love doesn’t require the dimming of my light so that he can shine. On the contrary, we are the light of each other’s lives, and we want to shine as bright as we can, together.”
Bach gave everything he had to Turner during their time together, including one of his kidneys after she faced serious health scares. In 2017, she had a successful transplant surgery thanks to Bach.
Now that Turner is gone, all eyes are on Bach as he navigates life without his beloved wife. It’s clear that he is taking the time to grieve and honor her memory, just as he stood by her side in life. The world may have lost a music legend, but Bach has lost his soulmate. We wish him all the best as he moves forward.
