The Jackson family is celebrating their late father as today marks what would have been Michael Jackson’s 65th birthday. Although the King of Pop is no longer with us, his children Blanket, Prince, and Paris have all taken it upon themselves to honor their father on this special day.
The celebration, which was called for a rare joint appearance by Jackson’s two sons Blanket and Prince, took place in Las Vegas. The brothers went to see the critically acclaimed Cirque du Soleil show Michael Jackson: ONE, which currently has a residency at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
The show that night was even more special because it was the 10th anniversary of the show’s residency in Las Vegas. Titled the ‘Blue Sapphire Birthday Celebration’ the event included a Q&A hosted by Michael’s estate. The evening featured phenomenal performances by the cast and musicians of MIchael Jackson: ONE.
One sibling noticeably missing was Jackson’s daughter Paris. Instead of attending the show Paris took to her Instagram story on Tuesday where she shared a series of videos talking about her late father and past birthdays they’d spent together. In another social media post Paris shared a video of her on stage emotionally thanking her late father for all he’d done for her.
“It’s also my dad’s birthday. And he would have been 65 years old today, and he put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into doing what he did, so that I can stand up here on stage in front of you and scream into a microphone,” Paris said during a live performance alongside the band Incubus and Bad Flower.
In a video Paris called on those who consider themselves ‘superfans’ to honor her father alongside her. Paris asked that they partake in causes that Michael deeply cared about during his life such as climate change, environmental activism and animal rights.
Happy Birthday to the Late and Great King of Pop
