Actor Tom Selleck and his wife, Jillie Mack, have been together for 36 years. They share one daughter, Hannah, who is now a professional equestrian.
While Mack is Selleck’s second wife, he states that she is set apart from all other relationships in his life: “Jillie has this sort of joie de vivre, this effervescent quality that just lights up a room. Apart from being my wife, she’s my friend.”
Although, they’re fairytale romance came with a hiccup: Mack and Selleck are both extremely private and wanted to make effort to protect the “anonymity” of their family. About this, Selleck has said:
“I worked 90 hours a week and did a movie every break. I quit Magnum to have a family. It took a long time to get off the train, but I try very hard to have balance, and this ranch has helped me do that.”
Mack followed up that, “he knew he needed to buy back his anonymity, to replenish the soul.”
The adjustment was difficult for both parties, but they found peace in a private ranch, where they could exist without public scrutiny.
“I knew intellectually what it would mean in terms of being a public person, but until you’ve lived it, there’s no way to understand it,” Selleck said. “I had a feeling of, ‘I don’t think I’m cut out for this.’ My relationships and my ranch keep me sane.”
