In a touching tribute to a young fan, Johnny Depp shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram Story, bidding farewell to 11-year-old Kori Stovell. The young boy, who had been in palliative care after two failed heart transplants due to a heart condition, was an avid fan of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise and had been dubbed “Captain Kori” by Depp himself during a video call in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Depp’s Instagram Story featured a black and white video of Kori, alongside a poignant message from the actor: “Sail on my fellow captain!! You honored us with your life. You humbled and amazed us with the courage and strength to be able to smile through it all…You are a warrior, mate…We will meet again on the highest of seas…All my love and respect to you and your family always!!! X JD.”
Kori’s love for “Pirates of the Caribbean” was well-known, and he frequently watched the movies during his multiple heart surgeries and subsequent recovery periods. Depp’s video message, in which the actor was dressed as his lead character Captain Jack Sparrow, was a dream come true for Kori, who had also surpassed his goal of reaching 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, “Kraken The Box.”
Despite Kori’s tragic passing, his legacy lives on, and his story has touched the hearts of many. Rest in peace, Captain Kori.
