Waldemar “Bud” Tasch, an “avid outdoorsman”, was returning home from a hiking trip when he learned that he had won $5,067,041 on the Colorado Lotto+.
The first things he wanted to buy with his fortune? Flowers for his wife, Bonnie, and a watermelon for himself.
“I was very pleasantly surprised,” his wife, Bonnie Tasch, said. “He doesn’t normally buy me flowers so that was very sweet.”
Tasch, a former employee of Lockheed Martin, played his lucky numbers on the lottery everyday. Beyond his minor purchases, he’s also looking to expand an eclectic collection.
“I like classic cars and I have a few already, so maybe I’ll get another,” he said. Tasch also plans to “get a financial planner and a banker” to “likely invest” the money.
