A working mother from Tennessee has hit the jackpot by winning HGTV’s Smart Home. As the grand prize winner, Stacey Braswell has won a furnished Santa Fe home with interior design by Tiffany Brooks, an electric Mercedes-Benz EQE Sedan, and an additional $100,000.
The victory couldn’t have come at a better time. According to People, Braswell was scheduled to undergo surgery within the next two months, and the cost of the procedure was causing her stress. Braswell called the win a “blessing” and was understandably shocked when HGTV’s Brian Patrick Flynn revealed the big news.
The video, shared with People, shows Braswell at work in her dentist’s office. She was under the impression that the office was being used as a filming location for a TV show, with her husband and daughter acting as “extras.” That’s when Flynn appeared and set the scene for the big reveal.
As the video shows, Braswell was caught off guard and had to ask, “Are you serious?” before finally realizing that she had won the grand prize. She was shocked, to say the least, and her daughter asked if they’d be moving to New Mexico. Braswell joked that she’s “retiring,” and went on to explain that she was scheduled to have surgery soon and had been worried about the cost.
The pueblo-style home, which marks Brooks’ ninth year as master interior designer, is a lavish oasis that melds traditional with modern, complete with smart living solutions that will provide the winner with the best of both worlds.
The location is complete with a bright white kitchen, a deep green living room with carpet tiles, a primary bedroom that Brooks says is “all about the bold geometry,” and a bathroom with a spa-like wet room. The house also features plenty of outdoor perks, such as a kitchen with a built-in grill, a deck with a heated plunge pool, a rooftop deck, and stunning views of the mountains.
All in all, it’s a dream come true for Stacey Braswell, who never thought she’d be the lucky winner. As she said in a statement, “You never think it’s going to be you.”
